A Letter from our Pastor

Rev. Ben Wills is the Pastor of Lewis Memorial UMC.

Welcome to Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church!

Lewis sits at the corner of Columbia Road and Hereford Farm Road at a busy intersection. I like to think that Lewis is a little bit like the corner on which our church resides: active, moving, and open to the community.

We invite you to come as you are and be reminded of God’s abundant love that is given freely to you! It doesn’t matter if you have been a lifelong Christian or have never attended church, you are welcome and needed in our community. We believe that all people and all voices matter because everybody is a beloved child of God, bringing unique gifts and insights into our world and work. Bring your questions, your curiosity, your doubts, your struggles, your insights, and wonders, as we grow in our understanding of God and His amazing grace. We hope that we can be a place for you to know God’s heart, Grow in God’s grace, and show God’s love to a world that desperately needs it. There are many ways for you to experience life at Lewis.  No matter what age you are, from birth to 101, there is a place for you here.

At Lewis Memorial, we read the Bible and preach about real life and how to live as people of faith in a complicated and confusing world. We interpret the Bible through the lens of Jesus, who teaches us that the greatest commandment is to love God by loving our neighbor. We do not have all the answers, but instead, recognize that God is present even in our questions.  God walks with us through the ups and downs of life, consistently inviting us to live our faith outside the walls of the church and extending care and hospitality toward our neighbor.

We do not claim to have it all together, but we do claim the truth that we are better together. We are not whole without you and would love for you to join in our mission to provide sanctuary at the crossroads and hope beyond. We close each worship service with the reminder that we might be the only Jesus other people see. We pray that as you engage with our community of faith you might see Christ’s love shining brightly. I sincerely hope to have the opportunity to meet you soon!

We’re Better Together,

Pastor Ben
