what to expect at Lewis
Club 56 is a ministry designed to meet 5th and 6th graders where they are, and challenge them to trust in and depend on God more fully. We provide an environment where students can LOVE God and others, GROW in their faith, SERVE God and others, and SHARE the love and truth of God. They will learn how their relationship with Christ affects everything about who they are and the life they live.
But let’s face it—preteens are all about friends!
Club 56 is a program designed to foster close relationships with other 5th and 6th graders as they move from Children’s Ministries into Middle School Ministries.
Club 56 serves as a forerunner in preparing the students for Confirmation and Youth Group. There are several opportunities throughout the week for participants to learn and live out the vows of UMC Membership in their two year journey…
Prayers Presence Gifts Service Witness
Each year the tweens in Club 56 will decide on a mission or service project to complete within the year.
each sunday morning
Sunday School is offered every Sunday morning at 9:45 am until 10:45 am. This traditional Sunday School class of tweens uses fresh, timely, and biblically based curriculum that helps teens examine relevant faith and life issues using the latest music, movies, news, and current events. Through engaging Bible study, you’ll equip them to evaluate their world from a biblical perspective.
each sunday evening
~(August – Mid Jan)
Sunday evenings begin on a lighter side. Some of the best stories in the Bible are also some of the most unexpected and unusual. These peculiar & profound lessons are sure to grab every tweens attention! Then the children end the evening with an Inter-generational Meal. This allows other adults to get to know NextGen students around the supper table. We begin with a short time of worship together in the Warehouse at 5:00 pm. Students can be picked up at the end of the evening in the Fellowship Hall at 7:00 pm, but we welcome and encourage you to join in the Inter-generational Meal at 6:30 pm.
~(Mid Jan – June)
In January the tweens will follow the same evening schedule, but they will separate into two groups after worship; 5th graders to “Pastor-Palooza” and 6th graders to Confirmation.
Pastor Palooza, palooza (plural paloozas) (neologism) An exaggerated event. Palooza is for 5th graders and they will learn the Christian Year and Festivals, centering on Holy Week.
Confirmation Preteens will explore their faith and make it their own through this journey. There is an annual confirmation retreat and field trips that Club 56 spreads over a 2 year period. Confirmation will end on Pentecost.
each wednesday evening
(after Friends and Family meal)
~(August – May)
On Wednesday evenings, Club 56 will experience the fullness of the biblical narrative in sessions that use storytelling, creative reflection, and dialogue. This journey will begin at creation and take them through the entire bible using a collection of learning styles. Class begins at 6:30 pm and meets in the conference room of the education building (G-402).
