Rev. Nancy Johnson is an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church. Born and raised in Florence, Alabama she came to Atlanta in 1991. With a bachelor’s degree in music education in hand and acting classes ongoing, Nancy worked in the theatre and corporate video scene for several years. While an active member of Peachtree Road UMC, she perceived a call to ministry and began seminary.
In 1999, Nancy began work on a Master of Divinity degree from Candler School of Theology at Emory University. She studied for a semester at the United Theological Center in Melbourne, Australia. In 2002, Nancy received her MDiv from Candler and in 2006 was ordained into full connection in the North Georgia Conference. In her years of ministry, Nancy has served in both associate and lead pastor roles. Her churches include Underwood, Cascade, Peachtree Road, The River and Christ United Methodist Churches.
Nancy currently serves on the board of directors for Aldersgate / Collinswood, an organization dedicated to advocacy and support for those with disabilities of all kinds and to helping churches fully embrace all members of God’s kingdom. Placing a high importance on community involvement, Nancy recently served on the boards of Forsyth County Community Connection, Leadership Forsyth, the Lanier Forsyth Rotary Club and on the advisory committee for The Drake House in Roswell. She has been a volunteer chaplain for Northside Forsyth Hospital.
Placing a strong emphasis on study and learning, Nancy recently completed her Doctor of Ministry degree with a focus on Gospel, Culture and Transformation from Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia. Her dissertation project work focused on congregational development utilizing the teachings of a new area of scientific research called Positive Psychology.
One of Nancy’s greatest joys is writing. Her work can be found in past issues of The Upper Room, Around About Cumming Magazine and the Advent devotional book Light of Lights. In the past, she has been the author of a blog called Feast for the Soul: Reflections of a Clergy Cook, with writings focusing on issues of food and spirituality, as well as cooking, family, travel and being a mom.
Nancy has been married to Todd Pierson since 1995. They have two amazing children, Vivian and Roland, born in 2002 and 2005. If she had time for hobbies, they would be reading, cooking, traveling, hiking, gardening and scuba diving.

Cindy Vinson is the Church Administrator at Lewis Memorial UMC. Prior to this, she served as our Ministries Executive Assistant, and has been on staff since 2000. Cindy was born in Tom’s River, NJ and was raised in Hawaii and California until she was 15. She graduated from Harlem High School and Kerr Business College. Cindy has been a member of Lewis Memorial Church since February of 1993. Cindy resides in Evans with her husband Michael. She loves to read, swim, and spend time with family and friends.

Jason was born in Augusta, GA and grew up in Martinez, GA. He has been attending Lewis Memorial since he was around 5 years old, and has been a member since 1989. Graduating from Augusta State University in 2004 with a Bachelor in Middle Grades Education, certified in Math, Language Arts, Social Studies, and Gifted Education, he taught for 11 years at Greenbrier Middle School in Columbia County before following his calling into music ministry. He served as the volunteer worship team leader for many years before this. Jason and his wife, Jennifer, live in Martinez, GA., along with their three sons: Jacob, Luke, and Caleb. In addition to his passion for music, Jason enjoys spending his time with family and friends.

Emily has a wide variety of experience in music. She began singing in musical theater at 9 years old! She has sung in choirs, bands, and musicals. She has played piano in church for years, and she loves traditional Christian music as well as contemporary Christian music. She majored in flute and voice in college, but she eventually pursued a degree in English. She is a voracious reader in her spare time! Emily also has 3 adult children, two of whom are at Kennesaw State University.

If his face and name look familiar, it is because Grant Nichols has been a member of Lewis Memorial since he was 10 years old. He is a graduate of Augusta State University with a Bachelors of Social Work. In the past, Grant also served as a volunteer in our Youth Ministry. According to Grant the youth are not the future of the church they are the here and now. He enjoys reading, exercising, and being with family and friends.

Sandra De Jong is a member of Warren Baptist church. She is “on mission” here at Lewis Memorial working at the Reception Desk. Sandra is responsible for bulletins, announcements and worship media.
She is married to Paul De Jong. Together they own and operate a Photography studio in their home. Paul and Sandra have one son, Daniel (pastor of The Rock Baptist Church, Fayetteville, GA) who is married to Heather Jo. Sandra enjoys her 5 grandchildren, cooking, and canning from her garden. Stop by Sandra’s reception office desk and ask her about her grandchildren. She always has a good story to tell!

Joanne is the Founder and Director of our Mother’s Morning Out and Pre-school program at Lewis Memorial. She started the program in 2001. She attended Augusta College and has worked in children’s education since 1993. A member of Lewis Memorial UMC for over 26 years, she lives in Grovetown with her husband Bryant. They have two daughters, Sarah Kell and Emily Pinson; and one granddaughter, Kinsley. Joanne enjoys camping, reading, the beach and spending time with her family.
